En Equilibre, Ottawa Sk8park

Jared got into skateboarding in a serious way at the age of 4. Inspired by the movie MVP2, he took his mini to the Kanata Skatepark and started bum-riding the ramps. By the end of the summer he could rock-to-fakie the 4' quarterpipe.

On his fifth birthday, he skated at a KC Projects comp in Vanier (Ottawa) and picked up a sponsor, En Equilibre. Thanks, Shane!

Since then he's been skating demos and a couple of other comps. His best finish to date is 1st in the Gravity Games AM at Rye Airfield. He also placed 3rd in the under-13 category at the DC Nationals Qualifier in Ottawa and 3rd in the Novice category of the Muskoka Woods Skateboard Series.

He's skated many of the outdoor parks in southern Ontario, and a few in west Quebec. His picture accompanied the article in Le Droit about the skatepark opening at En Equilibre's Gatineau store.

Recently, he's been spending a lot of time at Ottawa Sk8park, getting great coaching from Claude and Jasond Regnier, ripping up the 3' mini with all sorts of tricks on the coping. His picture accompanied articles about the opening of the Ottawa Sk8park in several local papers.

Update: 12/07/2006

Jared has been skating hard for the past two years and is now considered one of the "top ten, under ten" skaters in the province of Ontario. He is a three-year veteran of the Muskoka Woods Skateboard Series and regularly places in the top five when he competes. This year he took a 4th place finish in Ottawa and placed 5th at the Canada Day Celebrations in Downsview.

Last summer he was interviewed by Carolyn Waldo (CTV- CJOH) for a sports feature and he had a brief appearance in the City of Ottawa's Helmet Safety Video.

He has now skated in four provinces (Ontario, BC, Alberta and Quebec) and the state of New Hampshire and we look forward to finding more places to skate this summer when we travel down the US eastern seaboard.

Current tricks include 360 melons and front side 3's.

At the ripe old age of eight, his goal in life is to be a professional skateboarder and snowboarder.
